LSU's Milam and Schmidt Earn 2026 Academic All-District Baseball Honors
LSU junior shortstop Steven Milam and sophomore pitcher William Schmidt have been named to the 2026 Academic All-District Baseball Team for NCAA Division I, an accolade that celebrates their outstanding performance in the classroom and on the field.
Milam carries a 3.74 GPA while pursuing a degree in sport administration with a minor in business administration, and he has posted a .296 batting average this season, including 15 doubles, one triple, 11 home runs and 49 RBIs.
His on‑base consistency extended to a 35‑game streak, and he batted .367 over LSU’s final nine contests, underscoring his ability to perform under pressure.
Defensively, Milam committed only four errors in 214 chances, yielding a .981 fielding percentage that helped secure his placement on the SEC All‑Defensive Team and a Second‑Team All‑SEC nod.
Schmidt, whose 3.96 GPA reflects a similar academic drive, started 13 games and compiled a 5‑4 record with a 4.22 ERA across 64 innings pitched.
He delivered a standout outing against South Carolina on May 2, limiting the Gamecocks to a single run on five hits over six innings, and earlier earned MVP honors at the Live Like Lou Jax Classic on February 22 after throwing five scoreless innings.
