Coach Nevada Smith revealed that the program has secured the services of Yannis Steger, a 6‑9, 200‑pound forward from Oberhausen, Germany. Steger's arrival marks the seventh newcomer to the squad and adds a seasoned international presence to the roster.
During the most recent campaign Steger competed for Sunkings Saarlouis in the Germany Regionalliga, where he averaged 11.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks across 21 appearances. He reached double‑figure scoring on 12 occasions and recorded three double‑double performances, highlighted by a 30‑point, 15‑rebound outing against Bensheim.
Steger's professional trajectory also includes a stint with VET‑CONCEPT Gladiators Trier in the Basketball Bundesliga, where he contributed to the team's promotion from ProA to the top flight. His development began in the youth academy of Bayer Leverkusen, and he has been an active participant in the FIBA 3×3 circuit since 2022, guiding DER STAMM to a fourth‑place finish at the ING 3×3 German Championship.
The signing brings the total number of international players on Siena's roster to six, complementing the four returning athletes who helped the Saints capture the 2025‑26 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title. This blend of experience and fresh talent positions the team for a competitive season ahead.
