Long Beach State University announced Tuesday that Grgur Brcic, a 6‑10 Croatian forward, has officially committed to the program for the 2026‑27 season. The announcement marks the fifth Division I transfer to join the squad this cycle and underscores the coaching staff’s focus on bolstering size and experience.
A versatile frontcourt presence
During his most recent season at Bucknell, Brcic posted averages of 4.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game, while also setting career highs of 14 points and 16 rebounds in a win over UMBC. His ability to run the floor and contribute above the rim has drawn praise for its deceptive athleticism.
Brcic spent two seasons with the Bison, logging just under 10 minutes per game as a freshman and sophomore before breaking out in his final year. Prior to Bucknell, he developed his game in Croatia, where his physicality and work ethic were noted by scouts.
Coach Acker highlighted the player’s toughness, stating that Brcic offers a physical frontcourt presence with real size and a high‑level motor. The coaching staff believes his experience and motor will translate into immediate impact on both ends of the floor.
The addition of Brcic aligns with the program’s strategy to blend youthful energy with seasoned talent, positioning the team for a competitive run in the upcoming season. Fans can expect to see how his athleticism and rebounding prowess integrate into the existing lineup.
