Five App State Baseball Players Earn Academic All-District Honors

Student-athletes excel on the field while maintaining top academic records

Honoring Dual Excellence

Five members of the Appalachian State University baseball team have been recognized with Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators, a testament to their dual commitment on the diamond and in the classroom.

What the Award Requires

The College Sports Communicators awards require recipients to be pivotal contributors to their squads, maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50, and have completed at least two academic years as sophomores or beyond.

Player Spotlights

Charlie Evans posted a .358 batting average overall, climbing to a .420 mark within Sun Belt competition, and sparked a 22-game hitting streak that highlighted his consistency. Everette Harris, though limited to relief appearances, posted a 4.50 earned-run average and remained unbeaten in 14 outings without surrendering a run. Gage Peterson anchored the rotation with an 8-1 record across 15 starts, fanning 107 batters and earning first-team All-Sun Belt honors. Ethan Puig contributed a .326 average, a .378 on-base percentage and a .438 slugging percentage while collecting 47 hits in conference play. Max Tramontana, a reliever, finished 2-2 with a 2.61 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP over 24 appearances.

Classroom Commitment

Beyond their statistical contributions, each athlete has pursued a degree or is completing one while preserving high academic standing, underscoring the program’s emphasis on holistic development. Peterson’s impressive performance has placed him on the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration, a distinction that could further spotlight the Mountaineers’ blend of athletic and scholarly excellence.
