Tennessee’s baseball program announced the departure of pitching coach Josh Reynolds following a single season that failed to meet expectations.
A Season of Decline
The staff’s collective earned‑run average settled at 4.76, the highest figure recorded in more than a decade, highlighting a clear drop in pitching performance.
Head coach Josh Elander, who assumed leadership after Tony Vitello’s move to the San Francisco Giants, cited the need for a fresh approach to reverse the downward trend.
Looking Ahead to 2027
Reynolds had been recruited by Vitello in 2025, elevated to pitching coach after serving as Director of Baseball Operations and Pitching Performance, but his stint was short‑lived.
With the 2027 season on the horizon, Elander now faces the challenge of securing a new pitching chief who can restore the staff’s competitiveness and rekindle optimism among players and recruits.
