Rising star in the SEC
Dylan Volantis, a sophomore right‑hander from Thousand Oaks, California, has once again earned a spot among the nation’s top college pitchers, being named a finalist for the National Pitcher of the Year Award for the second consecutive season.
He joins a select group of five candidates, which also includes Mason Edwards, Jackson Flora, Aidan King and Maxx Yehl, all of whom have distinguished themselves across the 2026 season.
Volantis continues to dominate the SEC, topping the conference in fielding independent pitching (FIP), earned run average (ERA), WHIP and opponent batting average (.181), a testament to his command and effectiveness on the mound.
A statistic‑driven campaign
His performance features 116 strikeouts over 83 ⅓ innings, a 9‑1 record in 15 appearances with 14 starts, and a career‑best 1.94 ERA that currently ranks second in the country.
He leads the SEC in FIP, ERA, WHIP and B/AVG, and sits sixth nationally in WHIP (0.94) and eleventh in batting average against (.181).
As of June 4, he paces all active qualifying hurlers in career ERA (1.94), a milestone that highlights his sustained excellence.
Award ceremony in Omaha
The 2026 Pitcher of the Year will be announced during a press conference at the Men’s College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, on June 13, where Volantis will learn whether he repeats as the nation’s top pitcher.
The College Baseball Foundation, which administers the award, will host the ceremony, spotlighting the impact of Volantis’s season on the sport’s next generation.
