The Iowa State Cyclones kicked off the first weekend of official visits for the Class of 2027 by welcoming three prospective athletes, signaling an aggressive push to reshape their roster.
Among them is Blake Moser, a quarterback from the Lake Stevens Vikings in Washington, who caught the attention of the Cyclones’ staff during a camp that asked him to play wide receiver.
Moser’s high school production was impressive: he threw for 2,612 yards and 39 touchdowns while also rushing for 850 yards and 16 scores as a junior, earning a three‑star rating and a No. 22 ranking among Washington quarterbacks.
A New Position, A New Opportunity
Head coach Jimmy Rogers, who has been overseeing the transition, praised Moser’s 40‑yard dash speed and his ability to adapt, ultimately extending a scholarship to the versatile recruit.
Although he had garnered interest from several other programs, including the Portland State Vikings and Idaho Vandals, Iowa State’s innovative approach to utilizing him at a new position has positioned them as the front‑runner in his recruitment.
The commitment adds depth to a class that already features other notable recruits such as Drew Aagesen, Jordan Crider, Jason Wooden, Bill Seals, Derrick Sherman and Brandon Huffman, all of whom are expected to contribute across different units.
