A Familiar Face Returns to the Pit
Donovan Dent, the 2024‑2025 Mountain West Player of the Year, is back in New Mexico to suit up for The Enchantment in The Basketball Tournament, a single‑elimination competition that features a $2 million prize pool.
The team will be guided by former NBA champion Byron Scott, whose presence adds a championship pedigree to the lineup. The Enchantment’s roster is built around former Lobo players and other athletes who share strong ties to the state, creating a home‑court advantage that could prove decisive.
TBT’s format pits alumni squads against each other in a bracket that culminates in a championship game at The Pit. The Enchantment opens the series against last year’s champions, the AfterShocks, with game one slated for July 20 at 6:00 p.m., game two on July 23 at 7:00 p.m., and a potential third match on July 24 at the same time if needed.
Should The Enchantment advance, they will meet the winner of a Kansas versus Kansas State alumni series on July 27 at 7:00 p.m. The tournament’s single‑elimination structure means each game carries heightened stakes, and the $2 million prize adds an extra layer of motivation for the New Mexico contingent.
Behind the scenes, President Brandon Mason, General Manager Kenny Thomas, Vice President for Operations Kurt Roth, and assistant coaches Preston Laird, Estevan Sandoval, Dairese Gary, and Chris Perez form a coordinated front office aimed at maximizing the team’s chances of lifting the trophy at home.
