A Strategic Pause
The Mississippi Coast Coliseum & Convention Center has announced that it will temporarily suspend its professional hockey programming after the Biloxi Breakers organization ceased operations earlier this month.
While the decision marks the end of a brief experiment in major‑league hockey on the Gulf Coast, the venue stresses that its ice‑related activities will continue unabated, featuring touring productions such as Disney On Ice and regular public skating sessions.
Executive Director Sam Voisin highlighted the gratitude owed to the Breakers’ ownership, players, coaches, staff, sponsors and fans, and underscored the Coliseum’s commitment to fostering hockey participation through partnerships with local youth leagues, adult pickup groups and ice‑rental opportunities.
The Coliseum says it will conduct a thorough evaluation of future ice‑based programming, looking for ways to expand community engagement and support the growth of the sport across the region.
In the meantime, fans can still enjoy a full calendar of events ranging from family‑friendly shows to special themed skate nights, ensuring that the arena remains a vibrant hub for winter entertainment.
