The 2026 campaign will be remembered as one of the most successful in recent Jersey Panthers history, with the squad clinching 22 victories – the highest total since the 2014 season.
A Bittersweet End
The Panthers' run concluded with a 9‑0 defeat at the hands of the Triad Knights in the Class 3A regional semifinal, a game that left the scoreboard untouched but did little to diminish the team's overall achievement.
Coach Darren Perdun, who has guided the program for several years, took the opportunity to underscore the broader progress the team has made, praising the players' resilience and the culture they have built within the locker room.
Looking Ahead
With ten seniors graduating, including standout athletes Evan Cheek and Shane Lamer, the roster will undergo a significant transition. Their departures leave large shoes to fill, but the coaching staff remains optimistic about the talent emerging from the underclass.
Among the younger players set to assume larger roles are Graham Vanausdoll, Maddox Vanausdoll, Isaac Hackethal and Brody Short. Each has shown flashes of promise during the latter part of the season and is expected to contribute heavily in the upcoming year.
Beyond the personnel changes, the Panthers will also navigate a new competitive landscape. Starting next season, the team will compete in the freshly refurbished Cahokia Conference, a move that promises fresh rivalries and new challenges.
Coach Perdun and the senior staff are already laying out a plan to blend experience with youthful energy, aiming to preserve the momentum built over the past months while integrating the next generation of talent.
