Detroit Youth Baseball League Reschedules Games Amid Teen Takeover Threat at Stoepel Park

Rosedale Grandmont Baseball prioritizes safety after credible threat, while police prepare for potential gathering.

A youth baseball league in Detroit has announced a reshuffling of its schedule after learning of a planned teen takeover event at Stoepel Park that raised safety concerns.

A community response to a growing concern

The Rosedale Grandmont Baseball organization, which has served nearly 500 children for more than three decades, decided to prioritize the well‑being of players and families. All four fields at the park have recently been renovated, creating modern facilities that the league hopes will continue to foster positive experiences for local youth.

Christopher Gregory, president of Rosedale Grandmont Baseball, said the decision was driven by a duty to protect participants, noting that the league was informed of the gathering through a flyer that described a coordinated teen meetup. "Our first priority is the safety of the kids and their families," he explained.

Morning games will go on as planned, while later sessions have been moved to alternate fields within the park. Coach Nathan Clark, who has watched the league’s impact over the years, emphasized the lasting benefits the program brings to Detroit’s neighborhoods.

Detroit police have confirmed they will station officers at the park during the rescheduled events, and a nearby resident voiced worry that such teen‑focused gatherings have become a troubling trend, often amplified by social‑media platforms like TikTok.
