Georgia Bulldogs Offer Scholarship to Asheville’s Two‑Way Star Kaydan Whiteside

The versatile receiver and defensive back commits to the SEC after a standout high school season

A scholarship offer from the University of Georgia’s football program landed on the desk of Kaydan Whiteside on June 4, marking the first time an SEC school has extended an invitation to the Asheville High standout.

Whiteside, who plays both wide receiver and defensive back, transferred to Asheville from Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia, where he honed his skills before joining a team that also features teammate Jam Skyes, a 2025 standout with 42 receptions for 856 yards and ten touchdowns.

In his recent season, Whiteside caught eight passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns while also contributing a rushing score, numbers that helped the Asheville team maintain one of the strongest receiver and defensive back groups in Western North Carolina.

A Dual‑Threat Profile

Coaches value his size, speed and ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball, traits that have attracted interest from a handful of other programs.

Offers have also come from East Carolina, Miami (Ohio), Wake Forest, Duke and Southern, each of which have expressed confidence in his potential to contribute at the collegiate level.

Looking Ahead

With his scholarship secured, Whiteside now looks to build on a promising high school career, aiming to translate his dual‑role success into impact at the SEC level while his teammate Skyes continues to shine as a top receiver in the region.
