Jackrabbits Edge Out Mavericks in Crucial Summit League Clash
South Dakota State University’s baseball team posted a decisive 5‑0 victory over the University of Nebraska Omaha on Tuesday, a result that clinches the Jackrabbits’ spot in the upcoming Summit League tournament.
The win came despite Omaha’s earlier assurance of a tournament berth; the Mavericks managed no hits through the first six innings, thanks to a dominant performance by starting pitcher Drew McDowell.
Weather Delay and Reschedule
The contest had been postponed from its original slot earlier in the season due to adverse weather, adding an extra layer of urgency to the final matchup.
In the seventh inning the Mavericks found their best opportunity, pressing reliever Ty Madison in a rally that ultimately fell short, leaving the final score at 5‑0.
Championship Preview
The Summit League Championship will be hosted by the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis from May 20 to 23, where the conference’s top teams will battle for the title.
