Jenkins Commits to Michigan
Four‑star cornerback Blake Jenkins announced on a livestream Thursday that he will play for the University of Michigan, selecting the Wolverines over Alabama, Texas, Vanderbilt and SMU.
The 6‑foot‑1½, 185‑pound defender from Katy, Texas, is ranked No. 33 among the nation's top cornerbacks and No. 43 in the state for the class of 2027. His junior season yielded 26 tackles and two interceptions, numbers that helped cement his status as a coveted recruit.
Gabe Brooks, a 247Sports recruiting analyst, praised Jenkins as a "natural man corner" with size and athleticism, noting that the commitment adds depth to Michigan’s secondary.
A Class Building Momentum
Jenkins becomes the third cornerback to pledge to Michigan’s 2027 recruiting class, joining Tavares Harrington and Darius Johnson. The Wolverines also secured a safety commit in Charles Woodson Jr., son of the 1997 Heisman Trophy winner Charles Woodson.
With Jenkins' pledge, Michigan now has 16 total commitments in the 2027 class and has risen to No. 16 in the national rankings, underscoring the coaching staff's ability to attract top talent.
The commitment reflects a broader trend of elite prospects choosing the Big Ten over traditional powerhouses, a shift that could reshape the conference's competitive landscape in the coming years.
