The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo announced this week that Elliott Cribby has been appointed head coach of its baseball program, succeeding interim coach Garett Yukumoto.
Cribby arrives after more than ten years of coaching at the Division I level, having served stints at Abilene Christian, Seattle, Purdue, Washington, Pacific and Central Washington before most recently leading Eastlake High School in Washington and the summer collegiate DubSea Fish Sticks team.
During his career he has helped recruit and develop 58 players who have been selected in the MLB draft, including Detroit Tigers left‑hander Tarik Skubal and Miami Marlins right‑hander Janson Junk, both of whom have reached the major leagues.
Patrick Guillen, the university’s Director of Athletics, said Cribby’s blend of coaching acumen and player development makes him the ideal leader to continue the program’s upward trajectory.
A New Direction for Hawaiʻi Baseball
Under Cribby’s guidance the program aims to build on its recent successes, emphasizing player growth, competitive recruiting and community engagement as it looks toward future seasons.
The appointment signals a commitment to elevate the program’s profile while maintaining the strong foundation laid by previous coaching staff.
