The Arizona Wildcats soccer program unveiled a series of roster changes this week, confirming five new transfers who will aim to fill the void left by departing offensive standouts and to reinforce the goalkeeping department.
New Additions
Among the newcomers are forward Lainey Swanson and midfielder Ally Brown, both alumni of Xavier Prep in Phoenix, as well as midfielder Grace Smith from Ole Miss, goalkeeper Laurynn Ziller from UC Irvine, and Elesha Magley from UNLV.
Swanson, a 5‑foot‑9 attacker, logged nine appearances for TCU last season, delivering key contributions against Kansas and Iowa State, while Brown, a midfield playmaker, recorded assists in her first two collegiate matches.
Ziller enters as a redshirt junior with a 0.59 goals‑against average last year, and Magley, a sophomore goalkeeper, faced double‑digit shot volumes in four of her six games for UNLV.
Coaching Perspective
Head coach Becca Moros, who took the reins last season, emphasized the strategic intent behind the acquisitions, noting that the newcomers bring a blend of experience and fresh energy to the squad.
Moros highlighted that the transfers are expected to shore up the offense after significant losses and to provide depth in goal, where the team faced inconsistency in the previous campaign.
The roster update was posted on Thursday, June 4, and the athletics department began issuing press releases to herald the new faces, signaling a proactive approach to rebuilding for the upcoming schedule.
Looking Ahead
With the new talent now integrated into training, the Wildcats hope to translate their strengthened roster into a competitive edge as they navigate a demanding conference slate. The coaching staff remains optimistic that the blend of seasoned contributors and promising newcomers will restore the program’s momentum and challenge opponents throughout the season.
