Jenkins Commits to Michigan
Four-star cornerback Blake Jenkins announced his commitment to the University of Michigan on Wednesday, choosing the Wolverines over Alabama, Texas, SMU and Vanderbilt.
Jenkins, a 6-foot-0.5, 190-pound prospect from Katy, Texas, highlighted the supportive community and the arrival of new cornerbacks coach Jernaro Gilford as decisive factors. He visited Ann Arbor in April and left with a positive impression of the program’s direction.
Recruiting Context
The commitment adds to Michigan’s secondary, joining standout talents such as Darius Johnson and Charles Woodson Jr., and brings the total number of four-star defensive backs in the 2027 class to three.
Rivals analyst Gabe Brooks and recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong praised Jenkins’s size, athleticism and potential in press coverage, noting his 26 tackles, two interceptions and one pass breakup from his junior season.
Jenkins is scheduled to return for Victor’s Weekend from June 19-21, where he will take an official visit alongside fellow recruits Tavares Harrington, Josh Dobson and Monsanna Torbert Jr., all of whom are being pursued by major programs.
Industry rankings place Jenkins at No. 38 in Texas, No. 29 among cornerbacks and No. 260 overall in the national class according to the Rivals Industry Rankings, underscoring the significance of his pledge for the Wolverines’ defensive future.
Michigan’s coaching staff, led by head coach Jim Harbaugh, hopes Jenkins’s commitment will help solidify a recruiting class that could reshape the program’s defensive outlook for years to come.
