A Milestone for Harrison Baseball
The Harrison High School baseball team etched its name into the record books on Tuesday night, securing the program’s first ever regional championship with a 6-3 victory over Anderson in the Division II final.
A five-run burst in the bottom of the fifth inning turned a tight contest into a decisive win, a rally that Coach Ben Toerner described as the embodiment of the squad’s relentless work ethic and chemistry.
Athletic director Mark Meibers praised the players for their dedication, noting that the triumph reflects months of early‑morning practices, community support, and an unwavering belief in the program.
The achievement marks the first regional final appearance for Harrison since 1982, a milestone that has galvanized alumni and local fans alike, and it sets the stage for a showdown with New Albany in the state semifinal scheduled for June 12.
The state final will be held the following day in Akron, where the Wildcats hope to translate their regional success into a championship title.
Coach Toerner emphasized that the senior class, whose hard work has defined the team’s identity, will leave a lasting legacy for future generations of Wildcats.
