Summer Baseball Returns to New Buffalo
A new summer collegiate baseball franchise called Dune Coast Baseball is slated to take the field in New Buffalo, Michigan, beginning in 2027. The team will call Bison Field, the historic diamond at New Buffalo High School, its home field.
Groundwork is already underway to modernize the venue. Grants and community contributions are financing a comprehensive upgrade that includes a fresh turf infield, a natural‑grass outfield, new fencing, upgraded dugouts and reinforced back‑stop netting.
Beyond the physical improvements, the organization plans to channel all operating profits back into local initiatives, ensuring that the team’s success translates into tangible benefits for the town.
Students from New Buffalo High will be invited to participate in a variety of game‑day roles, ranging from field operations to live radio broadcasting, giving them hands‑on experience in sports management and media.
The team’s nickname and logo will be decided by the students themselves, with the final choice to be revealed during the July Fourth weekend celebrations on the beach, marking a community‑driven launch.
