Valley Christian High School baseball delivered a stunning upset on Tuesday, silencing the storied home field of De La Salle with a 3-0 victory that snapped a 54-game playoff winning streak dating back to 2006.
The win was built on a masterful pitching performance, as seniors Gabe Felix and Alex Kim combined to throw seven shutout innings, scattering just seven hits while striking out nine batters.
At the plate, Alex Moutzouridis was the offensive catalyst, driving in two runs and capping the night with a solo home run that sent the crowd into a frenzy.
The Road Ahead for Valley Christian
The breakthrough moment came in the fifth inning when Moutzouridis’s deep fly cleared the fence, giving Valley Christian a 2-0 lead that they would protect the rest of the game.
De La Salle’s dominance at home had become a benchmark for Northern California baseball, making the upset all the more remarkable for a team that entered the game as underdogs.
With the victory secured, Valley Christian now turns its focus to the championship matchup against Elk Grove, a contest that promises another chapter in a season that has already defied expectations.
