A New Chapter for the Razorbacks
Arkansas will open its season at home on Dec. 22, welcoming Central Michigan to Bud Walton Arena. The matchup marks the second meeting between the Razorbacks and the Chippewas, the first of which came in 2006 when Arkansas rolled to a 75‑59 victory in Fayetteville.
Coached by Andy Bronkema, Central Michigan enters the game after a 10‑21 season that nonetheless featured a top‑five defense in the Mid‑American Conference. The Chippewas have bolstered their roster with four transfer additions, aiming to turn the tide.
Arkansas, under head coach John Calipari, has reshaped its lineup through the transfer portal. New arrivals include Furman center Cooper Bowser and Georgia guard Jeremiah Wilkinson, while five freshmen have already committed for next season.
Returning veterans such as Billy Richmond, Isaiah Sealy and Paulo Semedo will be joined by holdovers Billy Richmond, Isaiah Sealy and Paulo Semedo, while forwards Trevon Brazile and Nick Pringle have exhausted their eligibility. Guard Meleek Thomas and Darius Acuff, both projected as lottery picks, have decided to remain in the NBA Draft.
The Razorbacks’ NBA prospects extend beyond Acuff. Meleek Thomas, Karter Knox, D.J. Wagner, Karim Rtail, Jaden Karuletwa, Elmir Dzafic and Malique Ewin have all entered the transfer portal or declared for the draft, signaling a busy offseason for the program.
With the game set for Dec. 22, the Razorbacks look to capitalize on home‑court advantage while navigating a roster in flux. The contest will serve as an early barometer for a team that blends fresh talent with experienced returnees, all eyes on how the new pieces mesh on the court.
