Lynden Baseball Clinches 2A District 1 Title
Lynden baseball captured the 2A District 1 championship on Wednesday, May 13, defeating Sehome 10‑0 in five innings at Daniels Field in Anacortes, Washington. The victory marks the team’s first district title since 2016 and propels them into the state tournament slated to begin on May 23.
The game exploded early, with Lynden plating all ten runs in the opening two innings. Joe Bense opened the scoring by drawing a walk with the bases loaded, and Dawson VanDalen soon added a run on a passed ball. Matthew Carrol then delivered a two‑run single off Sehome pitcher Jadden Geiger, while Bense followed with a two‑run single of his own that sent him to second base.
The onslaught continued as Jax Baar laid down a sacrifice bunt, Dane Marti ripped an RBI double, and Conner LeBel contributed an RBI single, stretching the lead to double digits before the first inning ended.
Spencer Adams made his season debut on the mound for Lynden, returning from a shoulder injury that had sidelined him earlier in the year. Meanwhile, Sehome freshman Garrett Gibbons limited the damage to two unearned runs, but the Lynden offense was already out of reach.
With the district championship secured, both Lynden and Sehome now turn their attention to the 2A state tournament, where they will join other top teams beginning May 23. The dominant performance has raised expectations for Lynden’s prospects on the larger stage.
