TCU's football program has continued to make headlines on the recruiting trail, securing a verbal commitment from safety Landon Johnson, a 6‑foot‑1, 180‑pound prospect who had been committed to Louisiana Tech since March.
A Defensive Boost for the Horned Frogs
Johnson, a graduate of Madison Prep Academy in Baton Rouge, earned a reputation as a playmaker in his junior season, recording 21 tackles, eight passes defended and three interceptions. Though unranked by 247Sports, his performance attracted interest from several FBS programs.
The Horned Frogs' coaching staff highlighted the versatility of the new recruit, noting that his size and ball‑hawking skills could bolster a secondary that has been seeking additional depth. His commitment comes at a time when TCU is looking to reinforce its defensive schemes ahead of the upcoming season.
Johnson is not the only recent addition to the class. Earlier this week, TCU also landed commitments from offensive tackle Alexander Herrera of Crowley and fellow lineman Ty Greene from Houston Stratford, bringing the total number of pledges to six within a single week.
