Second Annual Memorial Baseball Tournament Honors Fallen Officer
The second annual Officer Chris Oberheim Baseball Memorial Tournament will take place in Forsyth, Illinois, from June 5 through June 7, bringing together families, friends and community members to celebrate the life and service of the late officer.
Thirty‑three teams from across the state are slated to compete, turning the weekend into a showcase of local talent and solidarity.
Officer Oberheim was killed on May 19, 2021, while responding to a call in Champaign, a loss that left a lasting impact on his department and the surrounding community.
Supporting Families of Fallen Police
Proceeds from ticket sales and donations will be directed to the Illinois Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors, an organization that provides resources and emotional assistance to the families and colleagues of officers who die in the line of duty.
Organizer Kelsey Washburn emphasized that the event seeks to unite residents around a shared purpose, allowing them to remember Oberheim’s dedication while raising funds for those he left behind.
Information on schedules, activities and updates is available on the tournament’s Facebook page, where supporters can stay informed about game times and ways to contribute.
