A Late‑Game Surge Seals the Victory
The Chicago Sky finally broke out of their five‑game slump on Tuesday night, downing the Connecticut Sun 85‑80 in a tightly contested matchup at the United Center.
Skylar Diggins was the catalyst, pouring in 24 points while adding three rebounds and four assists. Half of her output came in the opening period, where she scored 18 points and helped the Sky build an early lead.
With just over a minute left, Diggins engineered a three‑point play that put the Sky up 80‑77. She then sealed the win by sinking the ensuing free throws, preserving the narrow advantage.
The performance marked Diggins’s first season with the Sky after she signed a two‑year contract in April. Already the face of the franchise following the trade of Angel Reese to Atlanta, she is averaging 14.1 points, 5.0 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game.
For longtime Notre Dame supporters, the display was a familiar reminder of Diggins’s college dominance — her ability to control tempo and dictate play in crunch time echoed the same poise that defined her collegiate career.
