A snapshot of the season’s early leaders
The 2026 Standard-Examiner All‑Area Boys Soccer Third Team has been announced, recognizing a select group of players who have distinguished themselves early in the campaign. The honors reflect a blend of statistical dominance, leadership and the ability to influence games at both ends of the field.
Between the posts, sophomore Landen Lopez of UMA‑Hill Field has already compiled 242 saves and two shutouts, providing a steadying presence for his side. Senior defender Skyler Orton from Syracuse has also contributed two clean sheets while limiting opponents to an average of just two goals per match, and he adds a surprising six goals to his offensive tally.
Up front, senior forward Jackson Roche of West Field has tallied seven goals and two assists, pushing his point total to 16 and anchoring the attack. Captain Joseph Rudolphi of Layton leads the team with nine goals and three assists, while junior Asher Hunt of Roy has added six goals and a single assist to the mix.
Midfielders are also making their mark. Wyatt Affleck, a junior from Syracuse, has reached 18 points through six goals and six assists, showcasing his all‑around impact. Tate Johnstun of Weber has contributed eight assists and seven goals, while senior defender‑midfielder George Solis of Ben Lomond has been pivotal in three shutouts, conceding only 1.5 goals per game on average and chipping in offensively.
The early season narrative is clear: a mix of youthful talent and seasoned leadership is shaping a competitive landscape, with each highlighted player playing a decisive role in their team’s progress.
