A Rising Star's Commitment
Trey Wright, a 6‑foot‑3 quarterback from Frisco, Texas, burst onto the national radar as a sophomore by completing 67.4% of his passes for 4,042 yards, 38 touchdowns and only seven interceptions. He also added 1,764 rushing yards and 16 scores, guiding his team to a 15‑1 record and a state‑title game appearance.
The performance earned him a consensus 3‑star rating, placing him No. 365 overall and the 29th‑best quarterback in the 2028 class, and sparked interest from more than a dozen powerhouse programs.
Among the suitors are Clemson, Kansas State, Michigan, Oregon, Oklahoma State, South Carolina and UCLA, but Wright says the relationships he’s building with coaches are the most important factor in his decision‑making.
Why Oklahoma Stands Out
Oklahoma’s storied program, sixth all‑time in wins with nine hundred sixty victories and seven national championships, presents a compelling blend of tradition and a current upward trajectory. Wright has spoken highly of the Sooners’ history and the opportunity to develop under a staff that includes offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle.
He has already held productive conversations with Arbuckle and other assistants, and he plans to deepen those connections during in‑person visits, emphasizing that personal relationships are paramount in his recruitment process.
Wright envisions himself extending plays, showcasing arm talent and playmaking ability outside the pocket, and ultimately helping Oklahoma continue its winning legacy while preparing him for the next level.
