A new era for Longwood basketball
Connor Piskin has officially taken on the role of Director of Basketball Operations at Longwood University, a move that has been welcomed by the program’s leadership and sets the stage for a fresh direction on the court.
Coach Ronnie Thomas praised Piskin’s humility and selfless mindset, emphasizing that the new director will serve the program’s mission above all else and bring a culture of service to every facet of the team.
Piskin’s journey to this position has been marked by a series of progressive experiences in the college game. He began as a student manager at Lincoln Land College, later moving to Southern Illinois University‑Edwardsville where he climbed the ranks while completing his bachelor’s degree in psychology.
During his tenure at SIUE, the team posted a program‑record 22‑12 season, captured the Ohio Valley Conference championship and earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament, a testament to the impact he had on the roster.
Before that, Piskin contributed to a 39‑win stretch that included a historic run in the Division I era, a period that culminated in a trip to the national tournament.
Piskin holds a master’s degree in higher education from SIUE and has expressed excitement about joining Longwood, stating that he looks forward to supporting the university’s ambitions and serving the players and staff.
The appointment signals a strategic push by Longwood to blend proven on‑court expertise with a culture of service, a vision that resonates with both the administration and the broader campus community.
