A season to remember
Kylissa Kirk, a junior captain of the Longmont Trojans' girls soccer team, has been honored as the Longmont Times-Call girls soccer player of the year, capping a breakout season that saw her net 25 goals and set up 16 more.
The Trojans rode a 17‑game winning streak, the longest in program history, before falling in overtime to Colorado Academy in the semifinals, finishing the campaign with a 17‑1 record.
Leadership on and off the field
Coach Andy Callaway praised Kirk not only for her offensive output but also for her team‑oriented attitude, describing her as the glue that holds the squad together.
Kirk’s influence extends beyond statistics; she has mentored younger players and set a standard of work ethic that the returning roster hopes to emulate.
Looking ahead to 4A
Next season the Trojans will move up to the 4A classification, a challenge that Kirk meets with confidence, believing the core group that helped achieve the 17‑game streak will keep the team competitive.
With most of the roster set to return, the team’s chemistry and experience give them a solid foundation as they prepare for the next chapter.
