Quinn Fordham Gray Sr. stepped onto the practice field for the first time as Florida A&M's head coach, unveiling a prospect camp that drew nearly 400 high school football players from across the region. The June 6 event was billed as a showcase of the Rattlers' growing recruiting ambition, and the turnout exceeded even the most optimistic expectations.
A New Chapter for Rattler Recruiting
The camp blended individual drills with hands‑on coaching, giving each participant personalized feedback on technique and performance. Current Rattler players, including Isaiah Knowles, took on coaching roles, teaching footwork, target reception and pocket presence while sharing insights from their own college experiences.
Knowles, a senior defensive back, spoke about his own ambition to transition into coaching after his playing days, adding a layer of mentorship that resonated with the campers. His involvement underscored the program's commitment to developing talent both on and off the field.
The following day Gray organized a 'Helmets and Heels' clinic aimed at female athletes, reinforcing his vision of an inclusive football culture. Upcoming sessions will feature a 7‑on‑7 tournament on June 11 and a Big Man Camp on June 12, with Gray already outlining plans for a Mega Camp that could become a marquee recruiting showcase in Tallahassee.
