Gideon Gash, a consensus national top‑100 recruit, announced his commitment to Texas Tech University on Wednesday, becoming the sixth top‑100 prospect to join the Red Raiders' 2027 class.
A Family Legacy in Football
Gash follows in the footsteps of his father, Sam Gash, a former Penn State fullback who spent 12 seasons in the NFL and was a two‑time Pro Bowl selection. Sam Gash was a key member of the Baltimore Ravens' Super Bowl‑winning squad in 2000 and later contributed to the league as a coach from 2006 through 2015.
At Detroit Central Catholic, Gideon helped the team to a perfect 14‑0 record and a state championship last season. He recorded 74 tackles, three tackles for loss, nine pass breakups, an interception and a fumble recovery on defense, while also catching 19 passes for 540 yards and eight touchdowns at wide receiver.

Ranked No. 70 nationally and No. 2 in Michigan on the 247Sports composite index, Gash's pledge adds depth to a class that already includes Jalen Brewster, Anthony Sweeney, Benny Easter Jr., Kavian Bryant, Julian Caldwell and several other highly touted prospects.
Looking Ahead
Coaches expect Gash to contribute immediately on special teams and as a rotational defensive back, while his receiving skill set could open new possibilities in the offense.
