A Dominant Quarterfinal Display
Louisville Trinity, the No. 2 team in the national MaxPreps poll, rolled past Beechwood 11‑0 in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association state baseball tournament quarterfinals. The win, played in front of a packed crowd, extended Trinity’s postseason unbeaten streak to six games and kept their perfect 39‑3 record intact.
Trinity’s bats were relentless, delivering 13 hits across five of the seven innings. The offense struck early and never looked back, plating runs in each of the first five frames. Meanwhile, starter Konnor Stargel anchored the pitching staff, fanning six batters while walking four in a 101‑pitch outing that kept Beechwood’s hitters off balance.
Beechwood’s starter, Caleb Arrasmith, lasted only 4.2 innings, surrendering seven runs and eight hits before the Trinity bullpen sealed the shutout. The victory marked the fifth straight postseason shutout for Trinity, underscoring a pitching staff that has become a hallmark of the program.
Coach Kevin Gray, who guided Beechwood to a 33‑10 finish and their fifth regional title in seven seasons, praised his team’s effort and character despite the loss. "We fought hard and left everything on the field," Gray said, highlighting the seniors’ contributions, including Brooks Becker, Sawyer Carlisle, Aiden Dicke, Hudson Edwards, Quentin Knasel, Bobby Meier, Brennan Siler, Austin Stephenson, Branton Stiles and Zach True.
The win propels Trinity into the state semifinals, where they will meet a yet‑to‑be‑determined opponent. With a national ranking that places them among the elite high school programs, the team’s blend of power hitting and dominant pitching makes them a formidable contender for the championship.
