A Season of Firsts
The Capital City High School girls soccer team capped a breakthrough season by finishing fourth in the Class 3 state tournament, a result that marks the program’s deepest run in school history. The Lady Cavaliers had already secured their first district title and a spot in the Final Four, achievements that resonated across the Jefferson City School District.
Coach Kelsey Hile, who guided the squad throughout the campaign, repeatedly highlighted the team’s pride and determination, noting that the players embraced the challenge of competing against the state’s elite.
Key contributors such as defensive standout Kassi Loethen, who earned defensive player of the year in the CMAC, and resilient midfielder Lexi Scott, who played through an ankle injury, exemplified the blend of skill and grit that defined the roster.
The success extended beyond soccer, forming part of a broader athletic renaissance that included first‑ever milestones in football and boys basketball for Capital City High School.
The team will graduate four seniors but will return nine underclassmen, a core that is already charting a course for next season’s ambitions.
Looking Ahead
With a 17‑9 record and a state plaque that stands as the second in girls soccer history for the district, expectations are high for the returning underclassmen. Their offseason preparations will be closely watched as they aim to build on a foundation of hard work and collective achievement.
