A Special Talent Joins the Crimson Tide
Alabama’s 2027 recruiting class received a major boost when Luke Cody, a highly rated kicker and punter from Lumberton, Texas, announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide after an official visit to Tuscaloosa this weekend.
Cody arrives with a 5‑star kicker rating and a 4.5‑star punter rating from Kohl’s Kicking, positioning him as the No. 9 kicker and No. 53 punter in the national 2027 rankings. At the 2026 Kohl’s Southern Spring Showcase he posted 14 points in field‑goal charting, ranking third overall, while his kickoff work yielded a best ball of 73 yards and a hang time of 4.2 seconds. His punt metrics were equally impressive, with a top hit of 57 yards and a hang time of 4.65 seconds, earning 101.48 points in the chart.
Visiting Recruits Make an Impression
The weekend also saw several other top prospects in town, including quarterback Elijah Haven, wide receiver Majay Thompson, offensive lineman Colton Johnson and defensive back Michael Nnabuife, all of whom joined Cody on the visit.
Cody becomes the first specialist to commit in Alabama’s 2027 class, a group that already features standout talents such as linebacker Kenneth Simon II and a host of other highly touted players. His addition underscores the program’s continued focus on elite special‑teams talent.
