Former NFL standout and Helix High School alumnus Reggie Bush swapped his cleats for a set of clubs last weekend, hosting a golf clinic at Mission Bay Golf Course that drew more than one hundred youngsters from across San Diego.
The event was staged under the umbrella of Bank of America’s Golf With Us initiative, a program that has teamed up with the nonprofit Youth On Course to broaden access to the sport for underserved families.
A Lesson in Life and Sport
Bush told the participants that golf is more than a game; it is a vehicle for teaching discipline, integrity and resilience, qualities he says are essential both on the course and in everyday life.
Having taken up golf at the unusually late age of thirty, just before hanging up his NFL career, Bush now spends his post‑football years mentoring the next generation, emphasizing that the discipline required to excel in golf mirrors the work ethic needed off the field.
The clinic also served as a launchpad for Bush’s new United Athletes Tour, a professional league that will feature current and former athletes competing in golf events; the tour’s inaugural tournament is slated for June 25‑27 at the iconic Torrey Pines Golf Course.
