Maliek Brown, a 6‑foot‑3, 185‑pound three‑star prospect from Chapel Hill High School in Tyler, Texas, announced his commitment to the University of Kansas football program for the 2027 recruiting class. The announcement came as the Jayhawks continue to shape a receiving corps that already includes several other highly touted prospects.
A Surge of Talent in the 2027 Class
Brown joins a group that also features Deng Tong, Nahzae Cox, Nik McMillan, Cam Pickett, Kobe Haynes, Tavares Powell and Jay Williams, all of whom have been seen touring the campus and meeting with coaches. Their visits underscore a broader ambition to rebuild a unit that has lost key seniors but remains hungry for production.
In addition to Brown, the 2026 class has already added Corbin Glasco, Tyren Parker and Nate Sims, giving the Jayhawks depth at the position. Head coach Lance Leipold praised Brown’s size and route‑running ability, noting that the new commits complement the existing mix of speed and physicality.
Brown’s junior season saw him catch 43 passes for 768 yards and 11 touchdowns, numbers that helped him earn offers from Baylor, Kentucky, Michigan State and TCU before he chose Kansas. The commitment marks the second wide‑receiver pledge in the 2027 class and the tenth overall for the program, signaling a recruiting momentum that could reshape the offense in the coming years.
