A Versatile Threat
Colorado's football program has added its fourth verbal pledge for the 2027 recruiting cycle, securing the commitment of running back Steven Alexis. The unranked prospect chose the Buffaloes over a list that included Pittsburgh, Illinois and Iowa, a decision that followed a June visit to Boulder.
Alexis, a 6‑foot‑2, 203‑pound prospect from St. Petersburg, Florida, arrived at Colorado with 19 total offers. During his senior season he rushed for 1,113 yards and nine touchdowns on 124 carries, and also contributed eight receptions for 50 yards.
His blend of size and agility gives the Buffaloes a versatile option both inside and outside the tackles, a trait that aligns with the team's offensive philosophy.
The pledge brings Colorado's total commitments to 13 for the class, placing the group at No. 35 nationally and fourth among Big 12 programs, a rise that reflects the staff's growing influence on the recruiting trail.
Wide receiver Jaiden Kelly‑Murray is the only other skill‑position player already committed, underscoring a focused effort to build a balanced attack.
Coaches now look to translate this momentum into on‑field success, hoping the early signings will translate into a competitive edge when the next season begins.
