Summer of Soccer Brings Community Together
The City of New Rochelle, working with local groups, has unveiled a summer‑long series of soccer‑themed events aimed at bringing residents together through sport, food and entertainment.
Kicking off on June 12 at Flowers City Park – Fosina Field, the program will feature open play, family activities, food trucks, a beer garden and a live simulcast of the United States’ World Cup match against Paraguay, setting a festive tone for the weeks ahead.
On July 10, the park’s Skidelsky Field will host a co‑ed community tournament open to residents aged 18 and older, city employees and members of the City School District, showcasing local talent and fostering friendly competition.
The celebration culminates on July 19 with a viewing party at Ruby Dee Park and Lawton Street, where live performances, a beer garden and food trucks will build excitement ahead of the World Cup Championship Game.
Local businesses are encouraged to join the festivities by hosting watch parties or offering soccer‑themed specials, with participants listed in the BID’s Summer of Soccer Directory; applications remain open until June 1 at newrochelleny.gov/sosbiz.
