Huupe Unveils AI‑Powered Arena Basketball System
Huupe, a US‑based startup, has rolled out Arena, a premium in‑ground basketball system that integrates artificial intelligence to give players real‑time feedback. The product is designed to work with any basketball and connects to a smartphone app that displays instant statistics after each shot.
Arena captures rim impact data, analyzes shot form and generates interactive shot charts, allowing athletes to visualize performance trends and adjust technique on the fly. The system’s data‑driven approach aims to transform traditional training routines for players of all levels.
Expanding the Playbook
Huupe’s earlier offerings, Huupe Pro and Huupe Mini, already illustrate the company’s ambition to merge sport with connectivity. The Mini, a compact home hoop, lets users stream games on platforms such as YouTube or Netflix while tracking performance globally. The Mini has surpassed 40,000 units sold, and early demand for Arena remains robust.
The venture was co‑founded by Paul Anton and Lyth Saeed, both alumni of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who bring complementary expertise in hardware engineering and software analytics. Saeed, a Palestinian‑American, says the technology resonates strongly with audiences in the Middle East, where basketball enjoys a growing fan base.
Strategic Partnerships Fuel International Growth
To accelerate distribution, Huupe has partnered with Virgin Megastores, leveraging the retailer’s network across the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Egypt. The collaboration is expected to bring the Arena and Mini to retail shelves and online marketplaces throughout the region by 2025, expanding the brand’s footprint beyond the United States.
