Purdue Sets 2026 Season Opener Against Gonzaga in Las Vegas

The Boilermakers will open the 2026‑27 campaign against the Bulldogs in a Hall of Fame Series showdown.

A Milestone Opener

Purdue University has confirmed that its 2026‑27 basketball season will begin on November 2, 2026, when the Boilermakers travel to Las Vegas to meet Gonzaga at T‑Mobile Arena. The game is slated for a 7:30 p.m. Eastern tipoff and forms part of the Hall of Fame Series, a showcase event that pits historic programs against one another.

The contest marks the fifth meeting in a series that has seen Purdue remain unbeaten against the Bulldogs, a streak that includes an 80‑68 victory in the 2024 Sweet 16. That win propelled the Boilermakers to the Elite Eight, where they ultimately fell to UConn in the national championship game.

Purdue’s non‑conference schedule for the 2026‑27 campaign is now all but set. In addition to the Gonzaga opener, the Boilermakers will square off against DePaul, Oklahoma, Iowa State and Tennessee in high‑major road contests, while also hosting mid‑major programs such as Valparaiso, Illinois State, Ohio, Lipscomb, Oakland and Cal Baptist at home.

The Boilermakers still have one slot pending for the 2026 Indy Classic, scheduled for December 19 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, where a final opponent will be announced in due course.

Head coach Matt Painter, who has guided the team through this ambitious slate, emphasized the importance of early‑season tests in shaping the club’s identity before conference play begins.
