Indiana High School Baseball Semistate Pairings Set, One Game Delayed by Storms

IHSAA prepares to announce game times as regional matchups across classes gear up for Saturday play

The Indiana High School Athletic Association has locked in the state’s baseball semistate schedule, but weather forced a delay for one of the matchups. The Class 2A regional between Lapel and Lafayette Central Catholic will now be played on Monday at noon at Loeb Stadium in Lafayette, after storms pushed the original Saturday slot back.

Regional venues and class breakdown

Across the state, the remaining contests are set for Saturday, with regional sites ranging from Griffith’s Steel Yard in Gary to the University of Evansville’s campus in Castle. Class 4A North action will take place at those two venues, while the South bracket features a showdown between Evansville North and Center Grove, as well as a clash of Bloomington South and North Central.

Class 3A games will be split between LaPorte and other sites, with NorthWood facing Norwell and Andrean meeting DeKalb on the northern side, and Providence taking on Guerin Catholic alongside Gibson Southern versus Cathedral on the southern side.

In the 2A North region, Oak Hill will host the Lapel/Lafayette Central Catholic versus Bluffton matchup and the Eastbrook versus Lakeland contest, while the South side of that class will see University square off against Evansville Mater Dei and Heritage Christian meet Sullivan.

Class A competition will be centered at Lafayette Jeff’s Loeb Stadium, where Fort Wayne Blackhawk will play North Miami and Rossville will meet Kouts. The South bracket includes Hauser versus North Daviess and Greenwood Christian against Northeast Dubois.

The IHSAA says it will release official game times later this week, giving teams and fans a clearer picture of when the action will unfold.
