Rowan County’s American Legion baseball team posted a 9-4 victory over Kannapolis on Saturday, snapping a tight contest with a late offensive surge.
The game saw Rowan’s reliever Brant Graham settle into a five‑inning stretch that turned the tide, while the offense capitalized on early chances to build a comfortable lead.
Relief ace Brant Graham shines
Graham, a Catawba College recruit, entered the game after an early struggle and delivered five solid innings, limiting Kannapolis to just four runs while striking out several batters. His composure on the mound gave Rowan the breathing room needed to pull away.
The breakthrough came in the third inning when Cam Williamson launched a two‑run double that broke a 3‑3 tie, sparking a rally that put Rowan ahead for good.
Rowan’s lineup added depth with Carter Durant scoring three runs, while Drew Pegram contributed two RBIs. Additional hits from Maddox Moore’s triple and doubles by Jayven Parks and Luke Ponczka further stretched the lead.
Kannapolis fights back
Kannapolis answered with a strong second‑inning burst, scoring three unearned runs off starter Dylan Alexander, and later added two hits and two RBIs from Cage Love. Matt Blume pitched the first three innings for the visitors before exiting with the loss.
Easton Tucker also contributed on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings of relief for Post 115. The final score of 9‑4 reflects a balanced effort from Rowan’s pitching staff and a potent offense that capitalized on every opportunity.
