Nominees Named for Top Honor
The State Journal-Register unveiled its list of nominees for the Girls Soccer Player of the Year award, highlighting the elite talent that defined the recent high school season across Illinois.
Each nominee has distinguished herself through a combination of skill, leadership and statistical excellence, earning recognition not only from local observers but also from the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association, which named all‑state honorees among the group.
Among the five candidates are Kamryn Hoffman, Lydia Auble, Bailey Leach, Mary Jane Keller and Kinsley Zellers, whose performances ranged from decisive goals to steadfast defensive work, underscoring the depth of competition this year.
Voting is now open to the public, with fans encouraged to select their favorite player before noon on Friday, June 12. The outcome will be revealed on Monday, June 15, when the newspaper announces both the Player of the Year and the full All‑Area team.
The ceremony will celebrate the selected athlete alongside the broader group of all‑state recipients, reinforcing the association’s commitment to recognizing outstanding achievement in high school soccer.
