Rowan County’s American Legion baseball team rolled past Kannapolis 10-1 on Sunday night, turning a modest early lead into a commanding victory that showcased both pitching depth and offensive firepower.
Mound mastery
Kendal Sifford anchored the rotation, delivering five shutout innings, striking out six while walking just one, earning his second win of the season and keeping the opposition scoreless.
Reliever Maverick Walters followed with two solid innings, fanning four batters and walking two, preserving the lead and maintaining the team’s momentum.
Fifth‑inning explosion
The decisive fifth inning erupted for six runs, highlighted by Cole Blevins’ two‑run single that pushed the score to double digits and cemented the advantage.
Additional contributors added depth to the offense, with Jayven Parks delivering a run‑scoring double, Carter Durant a run‑scoring single, and Maddox Moore a sacrifice fly, while Cam Williamson’s double and Brody Pope’s two‑run effort expanded the lead.
Mason Teal managed a run‑scoring single for Kannapolis in the sixth, but the damage had already been done. The team will now travel home on Monday to face Randolph County, aiming to carry the momentum forward.
