The win marked Hamlin's second consecutive victory and his second straight triumph at the Michigan track, bringing his career total to 63 wins and tying him for ninth on the all‑time win list.
Starting from pole position, Hamlin endured a penalty that dropped him to the rear of the field before he executed a daring three‑wide pass on a restart with 38 laps remaining, ultimately pulling ahead and crossing the line 11.110 seconds ahead of Erik Jones.
The race was interrupted by a crash involving Christopher Bell and Chase Elliott, which forced a red‑flag period for barrier repairs; Bell later faced evaluation for wrist and ankle injuries while Elliott publicly apologized for his role in the incident.
