A strategic addition
Ryan Pankey, a three‑star tight end prospect from Montrose, Colorado, revealed his decision on Monday morning, pledging to join the Michigan State Spartans.
The commitment came following an official visit to East Lansing, where Pankey got a firsthand look at the program’s facilities and coaching staff.
Ranked 85th overall by 247Sports and positioned as the eighth‑best player in Colorado for the 2027 class, Pankey also held offers from a dozen other schools, including Oregon State, Washington State, Colorado State, Navy, San Diego State, UNLV and Wyoming.
His addition brings the total number of commitments the Spartans have secured this past weekend to four, underscoring a busy recruitment period for the coaching staff.
Coaches say the 6‑foot‑5, 245‑pound athlete’s blend of size and route‑running ability could bolster the team’s offensive versatility as they look ahead to the upcoming season.
