A New Era for the Bobcats
Montana State University’s football program is set to welcome two new transfer athletes as it prepares for the 2026 campaign. Senior tight end Bruin Fleischmann, a standout from Air Force, arrives after a collegiate career that included a school‑record 30 touchdown receptions and an Honorable Mention All‑Mountain West nod. His size, route‑running precision and red‑zone reliability are expected to add a potent dimension to the Bobcats’ offense.
Joining him is Alec Wills, a cornerback who spent his previous three seasons at Penn. Wills brings extensive starting experience in the secondary and a reputation for aggressive, ball‑hawking play. Coach staff highlighted his readiness to compete immediately, noting that his familiarity with multiple defensive schemes should accelerate his integration into the lineup.
The roster adjustments also include a positional shift for Ryan Bowles, who will transition from linebacker to defensive end in 2026, and the departure of four veterans — Hayden Gunlock, Javonte King, River Warren and Vaughn Wirkus — who have exhausted their eligibility or moved on from the program.
These moves come as the Bobcats look to build on recent successes and contend within the Big Sky Conference. With a blend of seasoned transfers and developing talent, the coaching staff believes the team is positioned to strengthen its defensive front and deepen its receiving corps.
Montana State University, headquartered in Bozeman, continues to leverage its connections with partner institutions such as Air Force in Colorado Springs and the University of Pennsylvania to enrich its recruiting pipeline. The program’s strategic partnerships underscore its commitment to competitive excellence while maintaining academic integrity.
