A New Chapter for Buies Creek Basketball
Mark Bialkoski has officially joined the Buies Creek coaching staff as an assistant under head coach Jimmie Williams, bringing a wealth of experience from several high‑profile programs.
During his three‑year stint at George Mason, Bialkoski helped the Patriots post a 70‑31 record and capture the Atlantic 10 regular‑season title, a period highlighted by a school‑record 27 wins in 2025 and a Sweet 16 appearance that propelled the team to a No. 12 national ranking.
His player development work was evident in the rise of forward Jalen Haynes, who earned NABC All‑District First Team honors under Bialkoski’s guidance, underscoring the coach’s ability to nurture talent.
A Journey Across College Basketball
Before arriving in Buies Creek, Bialkoski spent six seasons at the University of Maryland, where he contributed to a 134‑63 record and four NCAA Tournament berths, including a Sweet 16 run in his debut year. He also served as an assistant at East Tennessee State from 2021 to 2023, collaborating closely with guard Jordan King, who later earned Atlantic 10 Player of the Year honors.
His earlier tenure at the University of Charlotte saw the 49ers win multiple tournament titles, including a 21‑win season in 2013, while his foundational years at Georgia Southern, where he earned a degree in exercise science in 2008, culminated in a SoCon championship as the program’s head manager.
Bialkoski’s professional trajectory reflects a blend of on‑court development and administrative acumen, qualities that Buies Creek hopes will translate into immediate competitive advantage. The program’s leadership expressed confidence that his diverse background will enrich practice sessions and game strategy alike.
The hiring underscores Buies Creek’s commitment to building a staff that combines proven winning pedigrees with a focus on player growth. As the team prepares for the upcoming season, Bialkoski’s presence is expected to be a pivotal factor in the program’s pursuit of conference contention.
