The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) has unveiled its 2026 Ohio Valley Conference men’s soccer schedule, a slate that features five home contests and a blend of new rivals and familiar foes.
The Vaqueros will meet Eastern Illinois, Houston Christian University, Lindenwood, SIUE, Southern Indiana, Western Illinois and UIW over the course of the season, with several first‑time matchups on the horizon.
Season Overview
Coach Bryheem Hancock emphasized that the OVC remains one of the most competitive mid‑major conferences, noting that the team is eager to test itself against a strong field.
Key Matchups
The season opens at home against Lindenwood, the reigning tournament and regular‑season champion. UTRGV posted a 0‑0 draw with the Lions last year and holds a 1‑0‑1 all‑time record against them.
Home fixtures against Houston Christian University on Oct. 1 and UIW on Oct. 4 follow, with UTRGV holding historic records of 10‑11‑1 versus HCU and 11‑7‑1 versus UIW.
The Vaqueros will travel to face Eastern Illinois on Oct. 11, Southern Indiana on Oct. 15 and SIUE on Oct. 18, while a home finale against Western Illinois is set for Oct. 24.
The regular season concludes with road games at UIW on Oct. 29 and HCU on Nov. 1, after which the OVC tournament will take place from Nov. 8‑15 at Lindenwood’s Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Missouri.
The tournament’s top six teams qualify, and the champion earns an automatic berth into the NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament, which begins on Nov. 19.
