A Versatile Defensive Threat Joins the Roster
St. John's University head coach Joe Tartamella announced the addition of Reina Green to the 2026‑27 women's basketball roster, a move that underscores the program's intent to bolster its backcourt with a proven playmaker.
Green arrives after two seasons at Duquesne University, where she logged 62 appearances and 34 starts, averaging 7.8 points while ranking third on the team in scoring, second in rebounding and fourth in steals. Her junior year also featured a career‑high 20‑point outing against Saint Louis, a performance that helped the Dukes secure a 21‑win season and a spot in the WNIT Super 16.
Beyond the numbers, Tartamella describes Green as a versatile guard capable of defending multiple positions and creating opportunities for teammates, a trait that aligns with the Johnnies' defensive identity.
Green's high school pedigree at St. Thomas Aquinas in Florida further illustrates her winning pedigree; under coach Oliver Berens she helped the Raiders capture three state championships and earned Defensive Player of the Year honors.
The incoming class also includes transfers Asia Donald from West Georgia and Sanaa Tripp from Belmont, alongside a trio of freshmen, rounding out a roster that blends experience with fresh talent.
With five returning players and a mix of transfers and newcomers, the Johnnies aim to build on recent successes and contend for conference honors in the upcoming season.
